I grew up in a tiny town on the Bayou Teche, left for Manila in 1966, and returned in 1970 to go to U(S)L. We were the last class to graduate from the AS; the conversion to IS was underway then.

If you will think back to your Louisiana days, you may think of a lot of similarities between Cajun and Filipino culture!TTNancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18067804542766013279noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6069354511167646779.post-88891983893198432302011-03-17T13:42:04.534-04:002011-03-17T13:42:04.534-04:00Thanks for the kind comments! The new school is beautiful and modern and sleek, but I will always remember the old place in Bel Air. It wasn't the most beautiful, in fact parts of it were downright shabby. But it was "our" school, and it will always be a part of me.http://kazakhstanii.blogspot.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06243506639327162419noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6069354511167646779.post-17978757371119365552011-03-17T13:34:53.537-04:002011-03-17T13:34:53.537-04:00I found you because this was posted on a friends f...I found you because this was posted on a friends facebook page! I love it, I've been writing lately about the PI and third culture kids stuff. Luckily, my folks still live in Manila and I have been able to go back there last year and this year, I've taken one of my children, I've gone by myself, I plan to take my husband this next year and then my other children in the next couple of years. Returning after 30 years has been incredible and has brought back so many fabulous memories. I've seen old friends. It's just been fantastic to be able so return.
This is a great blog, I plan on subscribing. What a fun read.
Thanks!teresa's basement bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01006401387489554974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6069354511167646779.post-24979265437119617112011-03-17T09:25:59.101-04:002011-03-17T09:25:59.101-04:00THere is nothing like going back to your old schoo...THere is nothing like going back to your old school in Asia after so many years away. I went back to the American Embassy School in New Delhi and had my picture taken on the same stone wall as I was on for the annual. It really was like stepping out of a time machine. It will do wonders for you to go back. I even talked the chowkidar into letting me back into our old house...just the foyer, but that alone was worth the trip. I can't say that it ended the wanderlust or whatever it is that keeps you looking for whatever it is that you lost--it might have even increased it. I miss being a teenager in the 70's!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05988250922547313006noreply@blogger.com
